A tropical Piña Kale-ada smoothie that will have you dreaming of summer! Creamy and refreshing!
This Piña Kale-ada is a healthier version of a tropical favorite! Fresh pineapple, kale, hemp seeds and more combine for a refreshing, beautiful green smoothie! The hemp seeds pack 10 grams of plant based protein to keep you going!
And kale, do I have to mention what makes kale a superfood? Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef and more calcium than milk! It is high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber. If you are kale adverse, then please try this smoothie because you won’t even taste it!
Pineapple is high in bromelain which is an enzyme known to help digestion and may help conditions such as allergies. The pineapple core is the highest in these enzymes. If you want to include more bromelain into your smoothie, chop the core in small pieces before you blend it.
How to cut a pineapple
Cutting up a pineapple is easier than it looks. If you watch the video, I how you how to do it. First, you cut off the ends then sit the pineapple on one end and slice the rind off. Next you cut the pineapple off the core then dice it up. Despite what some may think, you don’t need anything fancy like a pineapple corer. It honestly just takes up extra space in the kitchen. Just a sharp knife will do the trick!
I usually use almond milk because I have it handy in the fridge, but if you want a slight coconut flavor use coconut milk. I recommend the fresh kind in the refrigerated section or a light canned coconut milk. The full fat canned coconut milk would be too heavy for this refreshing smoothie.
This makes two servings, approximately 18 oz each. Each serving contains approximately 262 calories, 7.5 g protein and 6 g of fiber. Depending on your nutrition requirements, you may choose to add more hemp seeds, add protein powder, drink as is or drink both servings. This piña kale-ada recipe is customizable and easy to adjust!
